2016 Has Been a Busy Year!

It’s hard to believe 2016 ends today. As I look back on this past year, I am realizing just how busy of a year it has been!

Spring brought a lot of changes on the worship team I lead. Three members of the team lost family members. A couple members moved on to new places and new seasons of life. I wrote a worship song called All of My Hope during this season, that I am working on and hoping to release in the new year.

In April, our daughter Karissa turned 3, and I released my first full band single, Come to the Table, that I wrote, recorded, and mixed. In May, our son Maddux was born. A few weeks later, Karissa and I spent the night in the hospital for some recurring respiratory problems she was having. Going from 2 kids to 3 has been an adjustment to say the least. Kinley, our oldest, started kindergarten in the Fall. She turned 6 a few weeks ago.

In the Fall, I started working on my first EP. Drums and bass are finished. I have some work to do on guitars, vocals, and keys. I’m hoping to finish tracking in the next couple of months and release it in the Spring or early Summer. If all goes well, I may release a single or 2 from the EP before then. I’ve also been busy building a website for a window business in Franklin and mixing 4 songs for my friend Lance Cook’s EP.

The last 2 months have brought some significant changes at the church. Jeff Kempton, our new Assistant Pastor came on staff in November, and we have been adjusting to our new working relationship and responsibilities. We had 2 Christmas Eve services to plan and about a month or 2 less than ideal to plan them, in addition to starting a new sermon series and introducing Jeff to Memphis.

In the middle of that, we took a family trip to Disney World that was my mom’s Christmas gift to our girls and our niece. The girls loved Magic Kingdom- meeting all their favorite Disney princesses and riding all the rides. They especially loved the roller coasters (my little thrill junkies!). We made it through 8 rounds of Kinley’s birthday and Christmas celebrations this past week, just in time to celebrate our 10th anniversary.

With a few hours left to go, it’s been a good year, filled with plenty of challenges and ups and downs. But in the end, we have a new son and a lot to look forward to in the coming year! Here’s to 2017! Happy New Year from the Nordines!
